Text messaging is a killer app
Cell phone users, in the United States alone, send over 4.1 billion text messages daily, double the amount of messages sent last year, according to CTIA’s bi-annual report. Wow!
When people speak about killer mobile apps, it usually involves the Iphone; however, text message still reigns supreme. Text messaging is available on all cell phones, is growing, and is used more frequently than...

Winedrip Wall -- an introduction
Earlier this year, we attended the Boston Wine Expo, where there were over 1,500 wines to taste. As novice drinkers, navigating the massive space and figuring out which wines to taste were overbearing. We found ourselves asking other event visitors, “Which was your favorite wine at the event?” or “Which wines do you recommend I taste next?” With the Winedrip Wall,...

Streaming Reviews and Wine Comments
Big changes to the home page—You can now post comments to the wine feed. You’ve taught us that having a discussion around wine is much more valuable than solely sharing reviews.
(For those new to wine, this will be an simple and easy way to learn about wine from the community.)
In addition, we’ve made a few enhancements to help you share information with friends:

Header Redesign
We love to simplify design. In an effort to make the search text box more prominent we’ve aligned it with the logo to fall in the initial sight line.
Tell us what you think.
Groups: sharing wine recommendations with friends
We’ve released the foundation of our group section.
Groups are a simple way to share wine recommendations with friends or around a common theme. The structure of groups is intentionally very simple—no bells and whistles. Enhancements to groups will focus on the mission to help you receive recommendations from friends in real time.

Quick Guide: Posting wines from SMS
Our method is similar to sending wines through Twitter. Send your SMS to WINES (94637) in this order: wine name, vintage year or NV, a 1-5 rating, your tasting note.
The only constraint is that we ask that you send a wine name followed by a vintage year or NV, for non-vintage wines.
We have big plans to improve our heuristics as you post more wines from SMS.
New Features: Text Message (SMS) wines you taste
We’re very excited about this one! You can text message wines to your account by sending a message to WINES (94637).
To set up your account:
1. Go to Settings and click the Mobile tab.
2. Enter 1 + your 10 digit phone number without spaces.
3. We’ll send you a text message with a verification code. You can see the commands on the SMS help page.
How do you want to use text...

Focus: Organic and Biodynamic
We’re big fans of wine stores that have a unique angle or story. Appellation Wine & Spirits in NYC sells wines that are organic and biodynamic, a fancy word for no chemicals. Check them out. Scott, Tyler, and Jairo do a great job of helping you learn the benefits of such wine.
Does the choice of organic or biodynamic influence the wines you buy?

What other method do you want?
To start tweeting: 1) add your twitter account name in your profile account settings 2) send a tweet to @winedrip with the wine name, vintage year, 1-5 review and a review

New Features: Email wines you taste
Do you want to remember the wine you’re enjoying at your favorite restaurant?
Whether you’re on a computer, Iphone, Blackberry or smartphone, you can email wines you taste to wines@winedrip.com. In the email subject type the name of the wine and vintage year. In the email body rate the wine 1-5 (1 is not good. 5 is awesome.) and add a few words about the wine.
Here’s a sample...
Winedrip says "hello!"
Recently, I was asked to bring a few bottles of wine to a dinner party. As I walked into the neighborhood wine store, I realized I had no idea how to choose a wine or which wine to choose. Each wine had a number based on a 100 point scale and a brief description listed underneath. Yet, the information did little to explain the wines in a way that I as a novice wine drinker could understand. Some...
